Some of them include a second place finish and a third place finish in the collegiate woodwind division and the collegiate chamber division in the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition and the Music Teachers National Association Nation Competition.

On an educational level Ms. Tegart has exceeded most. Her various degrees in performance and music history have helped to win her acclaim and enhance her teaching ability. She currently is working toward her DMA with enrollment in the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She continues her educational commitment despite her teaching career and a busy schedule in performances.

If you wish to hear a performance given by Sophia Tegart you may find her currently substituting for the Spokane Symphony and the Eugene Symphony. She has been in performances with the Walla Walla Symphony. Previously, and possibly in the future, Ms. Tegart has given solo performances with the Spokane Symphony, the Gonzaga Symphony and the Washington Idaho Symphony.

While the traditional classical music is what Ms. Tegart has been known best for she also has a passion for bringing newly commissioned pieces to life. As new music comes onto the scene, many find that the Tegart name is a stamp of approval for those who are up and coming in the composition of music. In her quest to find new pieces she will often perform solo to help the piece gain recognition.

The career of Ms. Tegart is one that has spanned across many different areas. Her continued excellent in performance as well as her dedication to the music industry has brought forth new inspiration. As a teacher she is able to reach those aspiring to be great through example as well as an education that has been founded in long practiced principles of study.

While Sophia Tegart has studied with some of the best, she is now considered to be one of the best to study with. Her students crave her inspiration while also thoroughly appreciating her knowledge. As the classical music she plays gains popularity, there is no telling just how many she may inspire over time. Her work is one that is the product of a lifetime of commitment and of servitude to the masters of music.
