‘The Rite’ Film Delivered Extreme Exorcism Scenes With Anthony Hopkins
“The Rite” horror/thriller movie recently released into theaters by New Line Cinema. I checked it out,and felt it was pretty good. It showed a lot of extreme exorcism scenes Anthony Hopkins. The flick stars: Anthony Hopkins, Colin O’Donoghue, Alice Braga, Ciaran Hinds, and Rutger Hauer.
“The Rite” movie centered around characters Michael Kovak (O’Donoghue) and Father Lucas Trevant (Hopkins). Michael is a young American Priest who has issues with his own faith. He has a difficult time believing that the Devil exist as well as the so-called Demonic possessions. The movie, often times, showed flashbacks of Michael’s childhood, which is where he first developed his faith issues when his father passed away.
Michael ends up traveling to Italy to learn about exorcism from Father Lucas because his American teacher thought he needed to get some “hands on” experience with exorcism since he showed so much doubt. As soon as he arrives at Lucas’ house,he gets introduced to his first live exorcism with a girl who is pregnant, and goes in and out of possessions.
Even after Michael sees a ton of convincing evidence of possession,he still feels doubt for the faith. The possessed girl spits out nails, blood, her voice gets crazy deep, her body contorts, along with other kinds of weird stuff, but Michael still swears she just needs to see a psychiatrist for this issue.
Michael ends up dealing with major issues that are brought on by strange dreams he’s been having about his dead father. Lucas tries to help him out with his issues. However, Michael gets his doubting faith put to the maximum test when the demon possesses someone he never thought it would, and if Michael doesn’t get some faith quick, his life and other’s lives are in great danger.
Michael and his lady friend are in the room during the possession, and things get pretty bad. Finally,Michael gets his back pushed up against the wall, and is forced to deal with his faith issues and issues with God,which helps him overcome what is getting ready to kill him. The ending was very intense and had me on the edge of my seat.
In my opinion, the movie was very entertaining and interesting. However, there were some slow scenes during the film, and I found myself dosing off a bit. However, when things picked up,they really picked up in a very major way. It featured a lot of “can’t miss,” intense scenes. The exorcism scenes were very disturbing and convincing. I gave the movie a B grade.
