Martial Arts Movies From The Past Few Years Which Are Unforgettable
Any time I go over a list of martial arts films from the past decade, I have a very hard time narrowing the list down to a point that I’m happy with. But alas, there are a lot of people out there that need a recommendation when it comes to finding a great martial arts movie.
Here is a list of some of my favorite martial arts films of the past decade.
One movie that I certainly have to give some love to is Jet Lee’s Fearless. This film is based on the true story of a Chinese martial arts fight during a dark period for the country. This is an incredibly inspirational movie with amazing visuals and might be Jet Lee’s finest movie to date.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon would have to make any list about genre changing films. This movie was groundbreaking at the time, exposing us to people essentially flying and running across tree tops for the first time.
House of Flying Daggers is another movie that makes the cut for me. I received a PSP as a gift a few years back, and this was the only movie I owned on it. The visual quality of watching this movie on a PSP still is one of the most vibrant things I’ve ever seen on screen.
Who could make a list of martial arts from 2000 up until now and not mention Kill Bill? Sure it is not a traditional martial arts film per se, but it is a saga of revenge and clearly takes a lot of influence from the old Kurosawa films.
Another movie I’ll mention is Oldboy. This is a twisted movie and if you like psychological thrillers mixed with some awesome fighting sequences, this is a great one to watch.
These are just some of the many great movies of this genre to be released over the course of the last decade.
