Learning About The Film Hot Tub Time Machine
Major releases just are not quite bringing the funny as often as they used to be able to. While there has been a sort of comedy drought to speak of, that does not mean that some gems have been able to break through to the front lines. While it might not have done superbly in the theaters, you should certainly check out “Hot Tub Time Machine” if you like to laugh.
By reading through this particular article, you are committing to learn a little more about this film through a few different methods. More than anything though, you are going to get a breakdown of the plot and learn a little more about the sequence of events that made this film so epic in its own right. You will also get a brief introduction to some of the top names in this film and who they play.
This film centers around a group of friends that have really been much of anything but lately. Life has passed all of them by and left nothing to really show for all the time that they have been here. Each of them believes that if they could have just done something differently, everything could have been better. The main characters are Adam (John Cusack), Lou (Rob Corddry), and Nick (Craig Robinson).
After another night of hard drinking, Lou decides that life for him is over and attempts to end his. He leaves his car running, drinking heavily and rocking out to Motley Crue sitting in the driver’s seat of the car parked in the closed garage. Nick and Adam meet up at the hospital after Lou was found, and returned to health. They realize that their friendship has been compromised and to get it back, they are taking a trip to Kodiak Valley Ski Resort, where they have very fond memories.
While they are there, they realize that things just simply are not what they used to be at all. They decide to take a dip in the hot tub, and next thing they know they are in a strangely familiar environment. It does not take them long to learn that they have traveled back to the eighties. Not only this, but they look like they did when they were in the eighties to everyone else.
The hilarity ensues when the group decides that for the sake of not messing up the future, they would have to relive everything that they had undergone back in the eighties on the trip they appear to be reliving. So this means different things for different characters. One will have to break up with his perfect girlfriend all over again, another will have to get beaten up, and another will have to cheat on his wife (even though technically he wasn’t married then).
There is a lot of ridiculousness that ensues after this, as they reach a point where none of them are able to follow things to a tee. While they might have lived more of Winterfest ’86 than they did in the past, they also have learned a lot more about themselves in the process.
If you are someone that can appreciate 80s references and humor, than this film is certainly for you. If you are someone that just likes good jokes and crude humor, than this movie is for you as well. You should certainly check out the DVD “Hot Tub Time Machine” if you haven’t already.
