How to find the wedding entertainment that suits you
Very few days in your life will be as thought through as your wedding day. From the time, and how, you will arrive at the chosen ceremony venue, to the formations for the photographs, the food and decorations on the table, through to the honeymoon night and transfers to your honeymoon holiday. The forward planning that goes into your big day is phenomenal and often as intense as planning a military campaign! A major challenge, not to forget, and with so many guests to consider, is entertainment that will suit everyone’s taste, and fit the theme of your day. Getting this right takes some doing!
Helping you along a little, we’ve broken down the sections of your big day with a few suggestions and ideas to get the ball rolling.
The ceremony As the moment that will change the rest of your life, the ceremony’s music needs to reflect both your future, present, past and current emotions. Depending on your character it may suit you to enter the venue to the soundtrack of a full blown steel orchestra. However, a more traditional entrance will see a pianist or organist lightly playing uplifting music.
The signing of the register The process of signing the register can end up becoming quite lengthy and attempting to keep your guests in one place (especially if they have children) can prove quite a task. A fantastic way to combat this is to create a focus with a musical accompaniment, a soprano or tenor singer may seem audacious but it will certainly mark the event and keep people’s attention. Again, a more traditional-style wedding could see a string quartet, a harpist or an oboe trio.
The speeches, reception and food There are many options to consider when it comes to the reception. Depending on your character it may suit you to incorporate a sophisticated jazz band, harpist, string quartet, cocktail jazz piano or even something a bit more upbeat such as a swing band. If you’d prefer to create a more chilled out atmosphere, allowing your guests to get to know one another a bit more, it might be nice to have a soft accompaniment such as a simple flute.
The party The final big party is where you get to completely take in your day, and where your entertainment can be stepped up a gear! Whether you go suave and sophisticated, a bit of rock and roll or take a Latin and salsa vibe, the party should have your stamp all over it. It’s advisable to a think about what you listen to at home, it may be that a tribute to your favourite band or singer, or a ’50s, ’60s, ’70s or ’80s theme reflect your leisure time in the best way. For a little bit of something different you could experiment with live karaoke. The choices are endless; it’s all about your taste and theme so make sure you make the most of your big moment!
