The early albums from the band are considered to be the best by music critics. This is in a time before the new age synthesizers the group would use, and when the sound was just good classic rock and blues tones. Fandango, Rio Grande Mud, and Tres Hombres were all good albums that featured great tones. Each album brought the three closer to fame all across the world: they had outgrown their state of Texas. With the release of the next few albums, the band would finally get the recognition they deserve.

One of the most popular albums was Eliminator. This is the album in which ZZ Top hit just about every top chart they could have, and not just in the United States. It was an album featured in many video games, movies, and other assorted deals. A large number of singles were also released from the album, which had accompanying music videos that were also highly rated. They became well known for creating a music video that is not just a show of technology, but an entertaining video that the whole family can enjoy.

All good things can not last. This is a rule that ZZ Top learned well when the 1990′s came about. They tried to stay current by offering new and old flavored musical styles, but to no avail. It seemed they couldn’t stay on top of their success and eventually was passed out of the eye of the public and considered to be washed up.
