Grease was a hugely popular film that was released in the seventies. It remains a popular film now. In the 1970s, men across the world wanted to look like John Travolta, who played the main male character Danny, and women idolised Olivia Newton-John, who was Grease’s leading lady and Sandy. People of all ages love Grease, which is why it has been appreciated for decades.

Fans love the songs and dances in Grease, which people still listen to today. The soundtrack to Grease was just as popular as the actual film, and popular songs such as ‘Summer Loving’ and hip-shaking ‘You’re the One that I Want’ are karaoke favourites. The voice of Olivia Newton-John vocal talent became so popular that after the film was released she began to sing her own songs.

Grease was famous for the clothes that the characters wore, as well as being popular for the music. The introduction of leather jackets to both male and female fashion shops was a direct result of the leather jackets worn in the film and it was the leather jackets which were worn during the popular song ‘Grease Lightning’ that made them bestsellers.

One of the key looks which emerged from Grease was the T Birds’ signature look, which included wearing a leather jacket with ‘T-Bird’ written on the back of it. This group of male characters were loved by women and idolized by men, and as a result, fans of the film wanted to sport a similar look and were eager to get their hands on leather jackets.

Throughout the film Grase, Olivia Newton-John’s character Sandy dresses in dull clothes. However, at the very end, Sandy enters the scene dressed tight black trousers and a leather jacket similar to John Travolta’s character, Danny’s. This total transformation of Sandy in terms of her look was popular amongst fans of the film who were eager to get purchase a similar jacket from clothing stores. When Grease was released, fans across the world were eager to get their hands on a leather jacket.
