Halloween Costumes Transform Everyone For One Night
When you look for Halloween costumes for an adult or child to wear on this special holiday, you will have a difficult time deciding. There are so many, from animal costumes to witches and scarecrows and mummies. Little girls can be fancy princesses and little boys can be frogs.
Sprinkled among the ready-to-wear costumes you will see a zombie, a witch and an alien from outer space. Vampira, the female vampire will be dressed in black and red, with red blood at the corner of her lips. Watch out as she may turn into a bat at any moment.
Little hands will reach out for candy from within the sleeves of Batman and Spiderman. Oh and Superman will be there too. He won’t fly in, but toddle up to the door clutching his pumpkin to be filled with candy. Only wrapped candy is acceptable these days.
One stunning costume was a genie outfit. It was obviously hand sewn from pale blue silky material. Covered in a sheer pink, it had harem pants, a top with puffed sleeves and tassels dangling from the hem of the top. This was a happy little girl who took great pride in her costume since she had picked it out from all the available patterns.
Other little girls appear in improvised princess outfits and store-bought ones complete with jeweled tiaras. Cinderella is out and the evil stepmother as well. Many witches and good fairies roam the neighborhood as well. There goes the scary Freddy Krueger and a white-wrapped mummy who escaped from the museum.
For one improvised costume, put a colorful bandana on a stick. Wear a ragged shirt and jeans and rub some make-up on the cheeks to simulate dirt. Plop one of dad’s old hats on and become a hobo for the night. However, there are few ghosts wearing a sheet with holes cut out for the eyes. Could this be due to a shortage of sheets that are white rather than colored?
Clever adult costumes at parties still include dancing girls, skeletons, priests, nuns and that old favorite, a husband and wife in a two-person horse costume. Cows are still popular, along with cartoon characters such as Winnie the Pooh and Tigger too.
You can shop online for fabulous Halloween costumes. Those made for Renaissance Faire wear are beautifully sewn and intended for more than once a year use. At least one woman at every adult party arrives in a skimpy tart outfit. Men cheer and their wives give her dirty looks.
A man can wear a dress and pantyhose and attempt to walk in high heels. This won’t be easy for him and is fun to watch. He can even wear earrings, although many men routinely wear earrings these days. A wig will complete the outfit. Sometimes he adds a heavy dose of perfume for a realistic touch.
Stores sell Casper the Friendly Ghost and Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street. Kids love to be scared, but firemen and policemen (and women) are still popular Halloween Costumes. There will still be a few Darth Vadars out on the streets and Scooby Doo as well as the big bad wolf. Be whatever you want to be for the evening of the full moon. You know that’s the night the werewolves roam freely through the neighborhood.
