Breaking Dawn Movie Review
Breaking Dawn, the final book in the best-selling Twilight Saga, will take your breath away. Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga, a publishing juggernaut, has built fan anticipation to a climactic ending for this fantastic vampire-romance series. Breaking Dawn was released on August 2, 2008. From its initial print run of 3.7 million copies, 1.3 million were sold in the first 24 hours of the book’s release. Fascination with Bella Swan and Edward Cullen spans the globe, with more than 30 countries snatching up translation rights for Twilight.
With such a popular movie, it’s no wonder that Twilight fans would jump at a chance to be part of a movie. Extras for the first two movies comprised of a few lucky locals from where shooting was taking place as well as aspiring actors with resumes to push. The next reported installment in the popular Twilight Saga series will be “Breaking Dawn” and many fans are dreaming of a chance to be an extra on the next movie.
Some fans believe they’ve found their chance when they get email messages or see ads on Twilight fan sites. Here’s an example of a call for extras for the next Twilight movie but before you read it, beware that it is a scam.
Unlike a normal pregnancy, the child will be half vampire and half mortal since Edward has still yet to turn Bella. The pregnancy is not only happening faster, but it is physically abusive to Bella. The baby rejects all forms of food until they realize what it is that will quench the thirst: blood.
The third novel “Eclipse” finds Edward and Bella negotiating the terms of their relationship. She wants to be turned, he won’t until she marries him (he’s old fashioned, having been turned by Carlise in the Spanish Flu Epidemic of 1918). However, in the midst of all this, something – or someone – is on a major killing rampage in Seattle. That person is creating “newborn” vampires, the most dangerous out of control stage for vampires (they’re very strong, with their human blood mingling with vampire, and they are out-of-control). They soon learn that the newborn army is out to get Bella. Eclipse proves to be best of the Twilight sage novels, as more tales of the Quiellutes are shared, as well as the history of the Cullen clan members. Meyers avoids her previous reliance on tired romantic devices and genuinely pens an engaging tale.Meyers reportedly wrote “Breaking Dawn” after writing her first non-”Twilight” book, the poorly received “The Host.” She would’ve fared better, perhaps, had she focused on her very successful series. The result: “Breaking Dawn” effectively concludes the story – and apparently to the satisfaction of many readers, but it is severely flawed.
The saga finale opens with Bella’s and Edward’s wedding, honeymoon and surprise human/vampire hybrid honeymoon baby. The baby’s birth is easily one of the most gruesome scenes ever written with a young audience in mind and Bella gives her a truly awful name, Renesmee. The one redeeming factor of the novel is that a large portion is, for the first time, narrated by another character, in this case, Jacob. While it’s not done to perfection, Meyers is able to capture and present Jacob’s tortuous involvement with Bella and the other Cullens.
