A Variety Of The Most Memorable Movies Directed By The Living Legend, Martin Scorsese
When discussing the greatest directors of all time, one person who is absolutely near the top of the list is Martin Scorsese. For decades, Scorsese has been churning out classic films and I don’t think he’s ever had a bad movie. It is truly remarkable that such a legend did not win his first Academy Award for Best Director until The Departed.
This article will discuss and analyze what I consider to be the greatest films directed by Martin Scorsese.
It goes without saying that one movie I have to include on this list is Taxi Driver. This is an incredibly interesting film, in that it is a commentary on the Vietnam War without ever showing the war itself. It’s not a war movie; it’s a movie about the effects of war on soldiers. It’s also about a crazy taxi driver.
Another film that Martin Scorsese directed that I really enjoyed was The Aviator. As good as Leonardo DiCaprio was in this movie, I thought Kate Blanchett was absolutely spectacular. If I didn’t know better I would have said that she was born in the 1920s after watching this movie.
Although it may not be a movie, I could not be more excited for a show than I am for Boardwalk Empire. This HBO show will follow the story of Nucky Thomson, a pioneer in Atlantic City during the prohibition era. This part will be played by none other than Steve Buscemi.
One movie that definitely makes the cut for me is The Departed. Few people realize that this movie was actually a remake of a Japanese classic, but in the end, it doesn’t really matter. This movie was absolutely incredible and deserved to win the Oscar for Best Picture award.
One film of Scorsese’s that I absolutely loved was Casino. Robert De Niro played the role of Sam Rothstein, a man who rises to become one of the most powerful men in Las Vegas. Joe Pesci is also great in this movie. Sharon Stone is evil in this movie.
Hopefully you found one or films on this epic list that you have yet to view.
