It is obvious that because we did not have the same type of equipment that is available today that the old movies were produced having no sound. As a result, it was very easy to make a majority of them under the genre of comedy.

As more and more time elapsed it was realized that these witty movies could be good tools of letting people of all ages have a candid look at their social lifestyles and politics.

Despite being created in a way that points fingers at the good and the bad issues in the society, these films were still hinged on the fact that humor and wit still had the best response from the audiences. A perfect example would be the hit comedy of manners, which despite being a clear indication of how we should be well brought up in our mannerisms, there were those who were not and they could be the laughing stock of the community.

There then came the era of spoofs in which people developed a liking at seeing older classics being made fun of and being brought out to the audiences in new light. Most of these spoofs would rely on mocking the earlier classic so as to work on an already set loved foundation.

Film makers found that since there was a foundation that was already set by an earlier liked comedy they could then remake them in a way that they made fun of these hits and the crowds would love them.

Another interesting style of comedy came from the black comedies which aimed to make humor of seriously tabooed habits like murder but in a way that the audience realize that in the end it does not pay.

The audience gets to have a few laughs while watching the flick but as they do this they are warned that these taboos will always have dire consequences. War of the roses was one of the favorites back in the day.

By taking the combination of two genres there were many types of comedies that spawned like fantasy plus comedy to make fantasy comedies and drama and comedy to make dramedies.
